Frequent questions

The questions people actually ask us.

These belong to no single topic: they're about price, references, the size of the team, AI, and who actually does the work. Questions specific to one trade live on the page of the topic concerned.

How much does it cost?

It depends on what you want to achieve, and that’s exactly the first thing we talk about. We talk, we scope, and you leave with an estimate that binds us, not an order of magnitude that will move three times.

What we can say straight away: we’re not the cheapest option, and that’s not what we’re trying to be.

Why are there no prices on your site?

Because we don’t sell packaged work. A displayed price assumes identical work for everyone; yet the same request can cost five times as much depending on what you already have and on how high your standards are.

Displaying a figure would mean either lying to you, or selling you a scope you don’t fit into. We scope first, we price second, and that figure holds.

One exception, produced by the same rule: the audit of your site is the only work of ours whose scope can be bounded in advance, by the number of pages examined. Its price is therefore published, and it can be ordered online, at audit.z29k.fr.

Do you have no client references to show?

We have them, and we’re happy to talk about them in a meeting: what we did, in what context, with what result, within the limits of what discretion owes our clients. What we don’t do is publish them, or pass on their contact details.

A company name tied to its host, its content management system and its tools is usable information for someone preparing an attack, and we don’t want to expose our clients to advertise ourselves. That’s one selling point fewer, and we accept it. Put the question to your other candidates: ask them what they would publish about you.

You're a small team. What if something happens to you?

That’s precisely why everything is in your name: domains, hosting, accounts, code, data. Everything is documented and handed over.

We work with standard technology, not proprietary solutions. Anyone can take over after us. Few in our market can say as much.

How many of you're there?

A small team, with partners wherever a job calls for a skill we don’t have. We will always tell you who is working on what. And we remain responsible for the result, whoever is at the keyboard.

Who will actually work on our project?

The same person you’re talking to now.

This is the question to ask every time, including our competitors: in many firms the person who sells isn’t the person who produces, and you will never meet the second.

You use AI, so the result is generic?

AI produces generic output when nobody tells it what to do. Our work is precisely there: the scoping, the specifications, the trade-offs, the review.

What you buy is the rightness of what’s built, not the lines of code.

If you use AI, it should cost less.

The gain shows up in time and in scope, not in a discount. You get it sooner, and wider, for a given budget.

The time we no longer spend on the mechanical part, we spend on scoping and on quality: that is where a project is won or lost.

You develop your own products: do our projects come second?

No, and it’s rather the opposite: our products are what force us to hold the standard we sell you.

Running a service in production, documenting it, securing it, maintaining it over time: it’s the same standard we hold to on your work, except that here nobody asks it of us. You can go and look, by the way: the code of notabene is public.

How long does it take?

Faster than you’re used to. A brochure site is counted in weeks. A full rebuild too, most of the time.

The limiting factor is almost always the availability of decisions and content on your side, not the production.

None of these answers yours?

Ask it directly.

A first conversation, with no commitment. Or a few lines in writing, if that's simpler.
